Rising Damp
Capillary rising damp is caused by a failure or a lack of a damp proof course within a wall. Installation of a chemical damp proof course together with special waterproof plasters is used to counteract this problem.
Studded plastic membranes provide a physical barrier to control damp penetration of solid walls and can be fitted internally or externally.
The air gap system allows air to circulate behind the membrane having a drying effect on the wall. They can be plastered directly and are guaranteed.

Areas of wall below ground level will be affected by lateral damp penetration and therefore it is essential a waterproof coating be applied to the internal wall surfaces. This can be achieved by multi-coat waterproof renders or ventilated membrane systems.
Ventilated membrane systems are used where there is as high risk of water ingress into the basement. This allows water to enter the building under controlled conditions, behind the studded membrane into a purpose formed channel, which is drained into a sump and is then pumped out of the building.
